Amisfield Pinot Noir 2005 8.5
Powerful for a pinot. Plum and vanilla smells and a complex, deep finish.
WS 93 Suave and ripe, with plush depth to Asian spice, roasted duck, wild berry and black cherry flavors. Crushed stone nuances, judicious oak and sinuous tannins streamline the stylish finish.

Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2003
Berry flavors. Don't recall much about it but bought before our trip to venice. not memorable
87 WS Fresh, almost sweet blackberry and vanilla on the nose, following through to a medium-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a cut-wood character. Balanced finish. Corvina, Rondinella and Sangiovese.
88 RP intense herb-infused, black cherry fruit interwoven with notes of white chocolate, mocha, and almonds. Spicy, rich, medium to full-bodied, and dense with no hard edges.

Capcanes Mas Donis Barrica 2004
RP 90 winemaker's notes:
"The 2004 Mas Donis Barrica is 85% Garnacha from 80+-year-old vines and 15% Syrah aged for 8 months in French and American oak. Opaque purple, it has a wonderfully expressive nose of spice box, pencil lead, pepper, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. On the palate the wine is full-bodied with layers of ripe, spicy black fruits, nicely concealed tannins, and a long, pure finish. It is an outstanding value for drinking now and over the next 4-6 years

This was great. Big but not heavy, easy drinking. Nice berry flavors
WS 90 Bright, lively, harmonious and generous. A sleek mouthful of blueberry, currant and plum flavors, neatly packaged with hints of cream and spice as the finish sails on.

Fonterutoli Chianti Classico 2002 5.0
Remember this being dry and dusty. Opened up later and with food but no fun on its own.
WS 89 Lots of meat, berry and plum character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, rich finish. Decadent style that I like. Serious quality for the vintage. No Castello in 2002, so this was upgraded.

McLaren Vale Kangarilla Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 6.0
Remembered it as holding up nicely to food but functional on its own. A little boozy and hot this time. Jammy flavors and a nice long soft finish.
WS 87 -Broad, brawny style has lots of ripe cherry and earth aromas and flavors, finishing with a savory note. Best from 2008 through 2014.

Fernleaf 2005 Sauvignon Blanc 6
Nice bright burst of citrus and grapefruit. Good peach taste on the finish. A little mineral as well. Not too sweet and livened up the food which was a roof burger
wine.com A well structured wine with a harmonious blend of acidity and natural grape sugars. The palate has excellent fruit intensity, with warm alcohol and an elegant, lingering finish. Lively herbal flavors blend with refreshing citrus characters, balanced by the softer, warmer melon flavors of the Gisborne and Hawkes Bay fruit.

Bogle 2005 Chardonnay
Pleasant Chardonnay
Fresh tropical fruits like pineapple, mango and green apple greet both the nose and palate upon first sip, followed up by a touch of lemon cream. Complimented by more creamy notes of butterscotch and caramel, the wine has a long, lingering finish hinting of toasty oak. Wine.com

Kim Crawford 2006 Sauvignon Blanc 7.5
Explosive burst of grapefruit, peach and mango. Went very well with food, might be too dry for rooftop sipping. Good mineral flavors and tannins. Lots of depth.
Concentrated and complex, with vivid passion fruit, grapefruit and tangy peach flavors. Vibrant minerality and tangy lime juice acidity keep thumping through the finish. 92 WS

Perrin 2005 Reserve Cotes du Rhone Blanc 6.5
Deep yellow color looked almost syrupy. Butterscotch smell and appearance. Went well with chicken and suprisingly did well on its own. Peach flavor and a kick in the middle. Smooth
Forward and open, with fresh anise, star fruit and melon notes followed by a hint of peach pit on the finish. Textbook flavor profile for a Southern Rhône white. 87 WS

Desert Wind 2004 Ruah 5.5
Nice length and tannins but a little syrupy. Cherry, maybe a bit of spice. Boozy and hot later on. Enjoyed with pot roast on 6/11/07.
“Polished, round and beautifully open in texture, with perfumed raspberry, currant and cedar flavors that keep singing through the well-tuned finish. Has grace and style” WS 90
